I have found the DWSearchField object to add a Safari type search
field to my application. I'm trying to change the search menu that appears. If anyone here has experience with this object, can you help with the following? First of all, I've figured out how to edit the menu of the search field with the items I want. However, how can I edit these a bit further? For instance, when the menu displays, I want one of the items to appear checked. I've looked at the documentation on contextual menus, which are normally constructed with the ConstructContextualMenu handler, which is passed the base menu, and I can see how I would do this if I had access to the base menu, but no such parameter is passed to SearchMenuOpened. That one is a necessity for me (so the user knows which field they are searching). Of lesser importance is the font. It is possible to change the font that the menu items appear in to the same one normally used in Apple's search menus (such as the one in Safari)? Dear Charles!
I am sorry, I can't help. But I am interested in using such an object. Can you tell me where you found it? You can find the web site that hosts it at http://www.darkworks.it/
or download it directly from http://www.darkworks.it/lib/dl.php?d9 development/realbasic&fðles/DW_SearchField221.zip. There are many other custom controls, classes and modules available at the site, all of which I believe are open source. Since DWSearchField is open source, I did take a closer look, and the control uses a subclass of ContextualMenu, so my question becomes, how do I access the MenuItem members of a ContextualMenu object. If I can access them as an array or something, then I can alter the Checked property. Is this possible?
