I'm starting to have some success with changing the input volume by setting the QTGrabberMBS.settings string. Only you can't make changes while it is in the middle of recording. For my purposes, I may be able to live with this. This certainly is not an elegant solution, but it seems to be working - at least for the Mac. Hopefully things will work on Windows as well. Changing this setting is way harder than it really should be. Thanks for your help!

[MBS] Sound Input Volume

Is there a MBS function to set the sound input volume? I've been digging around your documentation for a while and I'm not really finding anything. The only thing that I can think of is to set the input volume by using the QTGrabberMBS. I think that there is a way to set up things using QTGrabberMBS.askAudioSetting to show a dialog box that saves a preference file. I don't want a dialog box; I just want a slider control on my window. But I think that there may be a way of loading in a "preferences string" to the QTGrabber without showing the dialog box by using the QTGrabberMBS.settings property. There isn't a lot of documentation about the form of this "preference string" - well none at all actually. I can't make a lot of sense of the string, but it seems like it should be possible if I can figure out how to decode it. Is there an easier way?

Not directly.
Of course you could try to do it directly with CoreAudio on Mac OS X. I could even make a function for that or you try yourself with the CoreAudioMBS class. Changing the default input device may be easy, but doesn't help you want to use another device.

Well, it's something more internal from QuickTime. Actually the ATOM format from Apple. I'm always trying not to change it directly.
