Using visual studio to write plugins?

Is there some kind of example for using visual c++ to make plugins, like an
example project or something?

I have a friend who works as a developer in a "microsoft shop" and uses
visual studio exclusively. He knows nothing of Rb, so in our talks we
figured one thing to try was to write a plugin in VS and call it from rb.

Also, he is using visual studio 2010 ultimate - I donno if this has any
bearing on things, but I figured I'd throw it in.
